About Ayurveda
Ayurveda (the traditional medicine of India), is a holistic system of natural medicine and healing that has been practiced in India for over 5,000 years.
Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word that is derived from ayur (life) and veda (knowledge), and is also known as the “Science of life.” Ayurveda’s primary goal is the promotion of good health and not just the fighting of disease.
“Health is not the mere absence of disease. It is the dynamic expression of life.”
– Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the founder of The Art of Living
The basis of Ayurveda is that the human body and the larger universe are made of five basic elements – space, air, fire, water and earth and the same principles govern both. When the elements are in balance, the body is healthy. When there is an imbalance we find disease. The elements in combination form Three Doshas (or Mind-Body Complexes/Types) – Vata (space and air), Pitta (fire and water) and Kapha (water and earth).
Different proportions of these Doshas make each individual unique – physically, mentally and emotionally. Ayurveda improves holistic wellness by using natural herbs, dietary changes, massage therapies, lifestyle modifications and specific detoxification treatments to balance the mind, body and spirit so that all flow in rhythm and harmony with nature.

Consult with Ayurveda Practitioner (Pulse Diagnosis)
Naadi Pariksha is an ancient non-invasive Ayurvedic technique of diagnosis through the pulse to detect physical, mental and emotional imbalances and diseases in the body. It enables the practitioner to discern the root cause of health issues and not merely address the symptoms to begin the healing process before the onset of symptoms.
The emergence of illness according to Ayurvedic principles
The order of these levels never changes
A blockage causes an imbalance in the dosha
The flow of the dosha is hindered and accumulation occurs
The dosha overflows and looks for a weak point in the body
An illness manifests at this weak point
The illness or disease causes symptoms
This leads to further complications
Panchakarma
Pancha (five) and karma (action), when translated literally means ‘Five Procedures’. These involve elaborate methods of purification that help release stress and prepare the body tissues to absorb the maximum benefit of good nutrition and exercise.
Snehana
Snehana is a body massage with warm herbal oil that helps the body to rid itself of toxins. It softens and smoothes the tissues, alleviates stress and calms the nervous system.
Swedana – Steaming
Swedana is a steam treatment that induces sweating. It comes from the Sanskrit “Sweda”, meaning “to sweat or to perspire”. Steaming raises the body temperature which induces the release of toxins through the skin during the process of sweating.
